Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest Recruiter Spotlight: Meet Ashlie!
Ashlie is the Talent Strategy Manager at PPPSW and has been a member of the Planned Parenthood family since August of 2014.
What do you do at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest?
My role is to bring amazing talent to the organization, but also provide guidance and leadership in managing our PPPSW talent strategy program. I love mentoring, training, assessing our recruitment strategies, finding innovative ways to implement best practices, and developing close relationships with our candidates and internal staff.
What advice would you give a new employee for being successful at PPPSW?
Learn and network from people in other departments. There’s so much going on at the organization, I feel like I learn something new every day. Build relationships! You never know where you might become interested in a project or initiative.
What advice would you give job seekers looking to start a career with PPPSW?
Stay connected with the affiliate. Sometimes it comes down to timing. We get lots of outreach from candidates looking to start at Planned Parenthood. Sometimes we have positions, sometimes it’s a matter of time before we have a position. I was in contact with a Recruiter 8 months before I started with the organization. You know never know when things might change.
What’s the one word you would choose to describe PPPSW, and why?
Progressive
I’m proud to work for an organization that is always looking ahead, whether it’s in our culture, processes and structure, or social justice issues.
What is your greatest accomplishment at PPPSW?
I don’t think I am able to pinpoint one great accomplishment. What I am most proud of is seeing my team grow and become more confident in their skillset. I also love, watching the people I’ve hired work their way to leadership roles. Our team has the opportunity to change the trajectory of the organization. I love being at the forefront of that.
What makes you proud to work at PPPSW?
I’ve worked for a number of healthcare organizations, PPPSW is the first place that I’ve worked where I felt Leadership truly cares about the wellbeing of their staff, as much as they do for their patients. Employees are encouraged to be their true authentic self!
What are some of your favorite hobbies outside of work?
When I’m not chasing a toddler or pup around, I love painting, gardening, and working on home projects. You can usually find me near water, whether it’s the beach or the pool.
