Katrina is the Senior Talent Acquisition & Project Specialist at PPPSW and has been a member of the Planned Parenthood family since August of 2013.
There are two parts to my job. First and foremost, I am a recruiter and so I partner with our regional hiring managers to hire passionate talent for their teams. I do this work for both our affiliate and another regional affiliate of Planned Parenthood in the Southern California region. I also work with our Talent Acquisition team to manage projects that we are working on that push forward progressive recruitment strategies for the organization.

Be the best sponge you can be! There are a lot of moving parts and it takes time to learn everything. Ask good questions, and take the time to learn PPPSW’s culture and the position you were hired for. Also, make sure to build great relationships with the people around you. …
In the midst of a pandemic, our primary goal is still providing care. And when we can find new ways to connect and provide that care, it’s even better.
Earlier this year, Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest announced an expansion of telehealth services (providing healthcare by phone or video) to support the communities of San Diego, Riverside, and Imperial Counties.
Not only does this keep our community members safer during a health crisis, it allows us to expand our capacity for care — and add a few new members to an already amazing team.

This December, we at Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest are proud of the work we’ve done during this eventful year.
From supporting our communities through access to safe and judgment-free testing and treatment resources for HIV/AIDS to our advocacy for human rights, we work hard every day to ensure that everyone, regardless of orientation, origin, identity, or status, is provided with the highest quality care.
As the year winds down, we’d like to highlight just a few of the initiatives we are proud to have supported this month. …
November 12–19 is Transgender Awareness Week — a time for both celebration and action. During this week, we celebrate the accomplishments and contributions from the Transgender and gender non-conforming community, as we look forward to all the work left to do for true equity. Transgender Awareness week occurs annually on the week leading up to Transgender Remembrance Day, a day to mourn the loss of transgender life. Transgender people are far more likely to be the victims of violent crimes, bullying, and suicide.
At Planned Parenthood, we recognize the unique challenges the Transgender community faces and we’re proud to provide…
Candy, costumes, jack o’ lanterns and pumpkin spice can only mean one thing: Halloween is right around the corner! While we’re excited about all of the scary movies and apple picking to come, we’re also hard at work combatting the spookiest ghoul of them all: threats to your health and well-being.
When you work at Planned Parenthood, you’re faced with realities that aren’t ideal. Not all news is good news, but we’re dedicated to giving everyone the best chance to have their best life. …
At PPPSW, we don’t just wake up and go to work every morning. We are driven by our passion for medicine, technology, and the people in our community.
Our mission is simple: to provide all people with access to healthcare and services that empower them to make the best choices for themselves and allows them to live happy, healthy lives. A cornerstone to achieving that mission is providing education, resources, and access to contraception, abortion, and other sexual health treatments and services. .
We’re proud of the work we do in our community, and we’re excited to continue that work…
The Latinx community faces greater obstacles to obtaining, and benefiting from, sexual and reproductive health services than non-Latinx white Americans. As a result, Latinx people experience higher rates of reproductive cancers, unintended pregnancy, and sexually transmitted infections than most other groups of people in the U.S, as the statistics below show. Planned Parenthood is here for the Latinx community and committed to helping combat these startling statistics.
We are proud of the work we do at Planned Parenthood, and even more proud to provide our community members care without judgement. With everything going on in the world, sometimes we forget to look at the positives.
This month, we’d like to take a moment and focus on the great work we’ve done, and how we’re continuing our mission to provide quality health care to every person.
In 2019, we were proud to:
Operating 17 health centers and growing, Planned Parenthood of the Pacific Southwest is one of the largest and most prominent affiliates of Planned Parenthood.
